A new category for this year’s Heiva i San Francisco inviting registered Advanced or Premier soloists (ages 16 to 45 years old only) who are interested in taking it up a notch. It involves a 3-minute “short film” judging not only dance skill, but also the cinematography, music, narration, editing, etc. to enhance the story line. It can be indoors or outdoors, whatever the storyline takes you with underlying reference to the islands.
We invite dancers to step out of their comfort zone, to think outside the box, and encourage soloists to be resourceful – be creative and innovative with your approach, anything is possible. Remember, the dancer’s performance has the foremost consideration for the evaluation over film elements. Take it to the next level and on a new direction to showcase your skill and creativity. (challenge is free to enter upon registering Advanced or Premier categories)
